Jewel Thief caught once again Click here to add this article to My Clips

By Praveen Lance Fernandes (reporting from IIFI, Goa), December 2, 2006 - 06:58 IST

Vijay Anand’s classic super hit movie Jewel Thief was screened on the big screen at the IFFI yesterday after a gap of 39 long years. The movie starring Dev Anand and Vyjantimala along with the late Ashok Kumar, Tanuja, Anju Mahendroo and Helen had released in 1967.

One of the greatest thrillers of it’s time; this slick suspenseful story was one of the biggest hits from director Vijay Anand.

The screening was held in remembrance and as a tribute to the late music maestro S.D. Burman who made some memorable songs like Honton Pe Aisi Baat and Aasman Ke Neeche for that film. The screening was attended by Dev Anand’s son Suneel Anand who was presented with a bouquet and memento before the screening.

Though Dev Anand could not attend the screening, he did pass on word that it was an honour to have been associated with S.D. Burman in so many films. According to Dev Anand, S.D. Burman was always connected with his studio Navketan until the day he passed away.

Dev Anand will be felicitated by the IFFI today for completing 60 years in Indian cinema.
