B.O. Update: 'Vivah', 'A.S.M.M.' take favorable start Click here to add this article to My Clips

By Taran Adarsh, November 11, 2006 - 09:05 IST

The film industry heaved a sigh of relief on Friday. After the shockingly low start of UMRAO JAAN last week, a section of the industry was nervous since two important films were slated for release next: VIVAH [Rajshri] and APNA SAPNA MONEY MONEY [Mukta Arts]. Both VIVAH and APNA SAPNA MONEY MONEY have opened well at the ticket window.

  • VIVAH: Looking at the low-key promotion as also the cold response to its music, a flying start was ruled out. But the film opened to packed houses in several parts of the country [Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Bengal], while some theatres of Mumbai and Delhi reported a slow start [40%], but picked up gradually towards the evening shows. The family audiences have appreciated the film.

  • APNA SAPNA MONEY MONEY: If the families are patronizing VIVAH, the youth as well as the masses are making a beeline for this Ritesh Deshmukh starrer. The opening numbers are more than satisfactory. Ritesh stands to benefit the most if the film sustains with the same zeal in the coming days.

  • DEADLINE – SIRF 24 GHANTE: Has had a slow start [expected], but Percept Picture Company is hopeful that the response on Saturday and Sunday will be better.
