'One Night @ The Call Center' Click here to add this article to My Clips

By Taran Adarsh, November 1, 2006 - 03:54 IST

Here’s the mother of all scoops and, as always, you find it first on IndiaFM.

Actor-director Atul Agnihotri, who made his directorial debut with DIL NE JISE APNA KAHAA, is all set to start his new venture, based on the novel ONE NIGHT @ THE CALL CENTER [authored by Chetan Bhagat]. “Rohan Sippy had bought the rights for producing a movie based on this novel. But we’ve acquired the rights from Rohan. In fact, Chetan is closely working on the film adaptation as well,” Atul breaks the news to this writer.

Although Atul hasn’t titled the film yet, he has decided to opt for a short title this time, unlike his directorial debut. “Ideally one or two words,” he smiles. The next question is obvious: Is bro-in-law Salman Khan heading the cast of the movie? “The novel revolves around a group of six call center employees and there are six actors we are looking at for the principal roles. So far, we’ve already finalized Zayed Khan and Sharman Joshi, while Salman and Katrina Kaif will appear in guest roles. Salman will be there in the beginning, in the middle and towards the end. He’ll take you through the story,” Atul divulges.

The as-yet-untitled film will be produced by Paul Parmar, who organized a Salman concert in the U.S. sometime back. Shooting of this venture will begin in December and will be wrapped up by April 2007. “Since the novel is based in Delhi, we’ve decided to film it in Delhi in January and February next year,” Atul pronounces.

Atul wants a different sound for his movie. “The music has to be different. The story begins at 8 p.m. and concludes at 8 a.m. the next day. Obviously, you can’t have conventional songs and situations in the film. The sound has to be distinct. Actually, I am still in the process of deciding on the music composers,” Atul articulates.

Atul says he wants to get it right this time around. “I don’t want to repeat the mistakes,” he swears, “On hindsight, I think the placement of three Salman starrers within a month affected the prospects of DIL NE JISE APNA KAHAA largely. Also, it all depends on how you project your film to the viewer. The images [promos] should cast a spell… something that my earlier film lacked.”
