Munna, Circuit to meet Bush?

Munna went to a medical institution in the first part [MUNNABHAI M.B.B.S.]. In the second installment [LAGE RAHO MUNNABHAI], Munna came face to face with Mahatma Gandhi. In the third outing that’s being planned, Munna and his loyal lieutenant Circuit will meet George Bush in America.
“Munna and Circuit will head for America in the next episode, but they aren’t meeting George Bush,” Rajkumar Hirani, who has just returned from his hometown Nagpur, informs me, “But I am not making the third installment immediately. I am working on a brand new script at the moment. Only after its release will I take Munna and Circuit to the U.S.”
Hirani sounds elated as we discuss the box-office response. “I was scared initially. How would moviegoers react to Munna and Mahatma Gandhi together? Will it spark off a controversy? Will people find the first part better? I only grew tense and restless as the release date approached. But I am overwhelmed and humbled by the reactions,” he smiles.
But what brought tears to Hirani’s eyes was a real-life incident that occurred in Ahmedabad two days ago. “A couple had bought a house in Ahmedabad and had been consulting a vaastu expert before shifting in. But they abandoned the plans the moment they watched LAGE RAHO MUNNABHAI. Abhijat [co-writer of LAGE RAHO MUNNABHAI] made them talk to me. I was stunned… tears welled up in my eyes, I felt emotionally weak,” he divulges honestly.
“The glowing box-office numbers has made me euphoric no doubt, but the fact that the film is affecting people is what has come as a pleasant surprise. That’s a major high for me,” he adds.
