"I'm not a man-eater!" – Shamita Shetty Click here to add this article to My Clips

By Subhash K. Jha, September 2, 2006 - 09:30 IST

Shamita Shetty is horrified by the series of stories recently linking her with various men. "First it was that Yuvraj Singh thing. Then I was being linked with hotelier Sanjeev Nanda. Now it's Viveik Oberoi? Gimme a break! I'm being made to sound like this slut, hopping and skipping from one man to another when in fact I don't have a man in my life. How I wish at least one of these rumours was true."

Speaking on the alleged liaisons Shamita says, "Just because many of my friends happen to be male it doesn't mean I'm having an affair with them. Sanjeev Nanda is a buddy. I've known him for some time and we hang around with common friends. Such loose talk makes us awkward. Now I'd think twice before hanging out with Sanjeev. As for Viveik, please have a heart! I've known him since we shot a song for Mani Ratnam's Saathiya. He's a friend. I ran into him last weekend at a pub. We laughed and spoke for maybe ten minutes. Is that reason enough for us to be linked?"

Shamita takes a deep breath. "I'm supposed to leave for Cape Town in two weeks to shoot for Anubhav Sinha's Cash. I've no time for an affair and certainly no patience with being linked with one or the other man all the time." She's asking psst-psst brigade to go easy. "When I have a man in my life I'll announce it from rooftops."
