‘Jaan-E-Mann’ in record screens

Things have started moving for the Diwali/Idd releases. Now that the promotions have gathered momentum, the distributors of both DON and JAAN-E-MANN have decided to block the best theatres, ensuring that the films have a wide release and recover the maximum investment during the opening week itself.
While the distributors of DON haven’t revealed their strategy yet, Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision Ltd., the Mumbai distributors of JAAN-E-MANN, who’ve acquired the film for an astronomical price, have already decided their game plan. Says Denis Selarka of Ashtavinayak, “We are planning to release JAAN-E-MANN in as many as 250 + screens in Mumbai circuit [includes Mumbai city-suburbs, Thane, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka].”
In the past, biggies like KRRISH and K.A.N.K. were also released in 200 + screens in Mumbai circuit, but 250 + screens should be a new record. Similarly, if the Mumbai distributors of DON open the film in as many screens, it would be difficult for any other film to find a foothold in the festive week.
Meanwhile, Ashtavinayak is planning to insert a full page ad in a leading daily of Mumbai, announcing the theatres they’ve booked. Bravo!
