Amitabh Bachchan billboards pulled down in Pakistan

As part of a promotional campaign for a telephone quiz contest, Telefun, a private call-in entertainment company in Pakistan had put up huge billboards of Big B with Pakistani flag in the background, across Karachi. The Pakistani government authorities however, passed orders to remove those ads immediately. The authorities say that they are not enemies of Amitabh Bachchan but the picture of Amitabh imposed over their national flag is an objectionable act. Besides, those spaces are reserved for their heroes only.
The contest which opens on the Pakistani Independence Day was to be promoted on the lines of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ and therefore, used picture of Mr. Bachchan to attract the audiences. Besides, another obvious reason is Big B’s immense popularity in Pakistan as Indian films are still available openly on pirated VCD’s in Pakistan despite the official ban on them.
