Bhangi-jumping jumped by the censors in Golmaal Click here to add this article to My Clips

By IndiaFM News Bureau, July 17, 2006 - 23:52 IST

Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal is doing well in theatres. But not many might come to know that the censors used their scissors twice on the film. Actually those were just two sound deletions. And the reason behind both was using derogatory or offensive language.

The first sound beep is used when Arshad Warsi tosses a servant in air and calls it 'bhangi'-jumping. ‘Bhangi’ meaning a sweeper has been used as a pun in place of the actual term of ‘bungee-jumping’. In another scene, Tusshar Kapoor who plays a mute guy in the film mouths the word ‘ootiya’ at three places in the film in his broken dialect. This again was considered as offensive and punched by the censors.

The film was finally cleared with a U/A certificate and can now go as a family entertainer.
