Rekha Ka Hai Zamaana

Debutante director Amar Butala has completed a chick-flick called KUDIYON KA HAI ZAMAANA with a bevy of beauties: Rekha, Mahima Chaudhary, Kim Sharma and Vasundhara Das. “Bollywood has produced films on male-bonding, not female-bonding. I wanted to explore this area,” Butala, who has produced a number of tele-serials before venturing into films, talks of his debut film.
Butala reveals that he would’ve scrapped the film had Rekha not consented to be a part of it. “Getting her on board wasn’t easy. All I requested her was, ‘Please read my script. If you don’t like it, throw it back at me!’ She promised to revert back in 48 hours and the moment she gave her positive nod, I couldn’t stop smiling for the next 48 hours,” he reminisces.
Butala also silences those who doubt Rekha’s professionalism. “I’d like to recall an incident here. She had called me to her office to discuss her look and costumes in the film. The moment I entered her office, I was awestruck to see that she had dressed three mannequins with the look she had conceived for her character. That sort of preparation was infectious and completely unexpected. Both of us spoke for the next two hours, discussing hair/colors/cosmetics and clothes... I was actually talking fashion with Rekha,” he smiles.
