Chup Chup Ke in trouble? Click here to add this article to My Clips

By IndiaFM News Bureau, June 6, 2006 - 03:11 IST

Remember the controversy that surrounded UTV's Rang De Basanti, regarding the use of horses? Which ultimately postponed the release date of the film? Well, it appears that UTV's tryst with the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) is far from over.

Post the stupendous success of Rang De Basanti, the production house is gearing for their next film Chup Chup Ke, slated to hit theatres this Friday. However, there is a scene in the film which depicts Shahid Kapur, trying to catch chicks! The producers have sent an application to the AWBI on May 25th, asking for their clearance on the scene. However, they have received no response. It's supposed to be a fun scene and UTV hopes that they are not dragged into a controversy. Directed by Priyadarshan, Chup Chup Ke stars Shahid Kapur, Kareena Kapoor, Neha Dhupia and Sushma Reddy in key roles.

Some other films that have come under the AWBI's scanner for unauthorized use of animals, in the recent past include Paheli and Taj Mahal.
