After seventeen long years, Ram Gopal Varma and music composer Ilaiyaraaja will be coming together for the director's forthcoming Shiva. Incidentally, the two had worked together on RGV's first film, also titled Shiva. The film maker is known to not pay any heed to market trends. So despite Ilaiyaraaja's last Hindi film Mumbai Xpress not being a big musical hit, RGV has still signed him on.
He believes that the music of Shiva is very contemporary. Two songs of the film featuring Mohit Ahlawat and Nisha Kothari are in the process of being shot. Ram Gopal Varma is one director who has always tried to experiment with the music of his films. In the past he has worked with various composers like R.D. Burman, AR Rehman, Vishal Bhardawaj, Sandeep Chowta and Amar Mohile. He is also working with Himesh Reshammiya for his version of Sholay.
