SRK versus Salman this Diwali

Although Diwali is still far away, several producers have already started planning their projects in such a way that the release date falls in the Diwali week. Since the past few years, the Diwali week was dominated by either Yash Raj or Karan Johar. The exception was Diwali 2005, when GARAM MASALA, KYON KI… and SHAADI NO. 1, produced by non-Yash Raj/Johar production houses, hit the marquee.
Although Yash Raj hasn’t officially announced any project for Diwali this year, the two films that are already confirmed for Diwali 2006 are Farhan Akhtar’s DON and Nikhil Advani’s SALAAM-E-ISHQ. While DON took off on January 30 and is being shot at a breakneck speed, SALAAM-E-ISHQ, which is already 45% complete, will have another major shooting schedule taking place in the next few days.
So, as things stand today, it’s going to be SRK [DON] versus Salman [SALAAM-E-ISHQ] this Diwali.
