Ananth Narayan Mahadevan, the director of DIL VIL PYAR VYAR, DIL MAANGE MORE and AKSAR [which opens this Friday], is getting ready to start his next venture. To be produced by the film production wing of music company Saregama, the film is titled NAA NAA KARTE… BELIEVE IT OR NUTS.
“It’s a Hrishikesh Mukherjee kind of film I am attempting this time,” Ananth smiles, adding that he bounced off the story idea to the veteran film-maker some time back. “Hrishi-da heard the plot and remarked, ‘Bahut achchi story hain.’ It’s a warm, funny, touching story.”
NAA NAA KARTE… BELIEVE IT OR NUTS is quite an offbeat title. “I know, every second film-maker claims he’s attempting a hatke film, but I’d like to elucidate that NAA NAA KARTE… BELIEVE IT OR NUTS is indeed a fascinating comedy… something that hasn’t been attempted before. That explains why I decided to opt for a refreshingly different title.”
You may find this hard to believe, but Harish Dayani of Saregama signed Ananth after he saw the song promo of ‘Gustakh Dil’ from DIL MAANGE MORE. “He was impressed with the song and the way I had filmed it,” Ananth reminisces, “In fact, Dayani swears by the story and often tells me that it’s the best script he has come across.”
While Ananth is yet to decide on the male casting of NAA NAA KARTE… BELIEVE IT OR NUTS [the film will star two lead men], the leading ladies have already been signed: Rimi Sen and Dia Mirza, with Juhi Chawla in a pivotal role. The film will take off in March this year.
