Both AKSAR and FIGHT CLUB were scheduled to hit the screens on January 27, but have been pushed ahead by one week. Both will now arrive on February 3. Did the postponement of RANG DE BASANTI play any role in the postponement of the two films?
“We haven’t postponed AKSAR due to RANG DE BASANTI,” director Ananth Narayan Mahadevan tells me, “We had decided to shift our film to February 3 since January 27 was looking crowded [MERE JEEVAN SAATHI and FIGHT CLUB were scheduled to release on this date]. In the meanwhile, RANG DE BASANTI was postponed by a week [January 25] and now even MERE JEEVAN SAATHI and FIGHT CLUB are arriving on February 3.”
While Ananth denies that RANG DE BASANTI was responsible for AKSAR being pushed ahead, Vicky Chopra, the director of FIGHT CLUB, admits that the postponement of RANG DE BASANTI has in turn led to the postponement of FIGHT CLUB. “RANG DE BASANTI is a big film starring a super-star. We ought to respect the star and the film. Hence, we’ve decided to re-schedule FIGHT CLUB to February 3,” Vicky states.
