Customs summon Saif for his Toyota Lexus

Actor Saif Ali Khan who was recently involved in an accident last month, has been summoned by the customs to answer charges of smuggling the vehicle, Toyota Lexus. Saif will have to appear before Additional customs commissioner G S Narang on January 9. Directorate of Revenue Intelligence and Customs have identified at least three car smuggling rackets in the city run by foreign car dealers which primarily cater to demands of cheap imported cars from Bollywood Celebs.
Saif’s Toyota Lexus has been imported under a dubious scheme called the Transfer of Residence Scheme, which is registered with Mumbai Central RTO in the name of one Kolangara Mamunhi Mohammed. He is the original importer. Again there is a discrepancy in the address submitted to Customs document and RTO papers. According to Custom officials Saif might have evaded worth Rs10-15 lakh. The star now faces a penalty of Rs 15-20 lakhs.
Some time back, Sanjay Dutt had to shell out Rs 40 lakhs as fine for his Porsche, while Sunil Shetty's Hummer is still being investigated by DRI.
