Firstly, people just knew me as Vaishali the model, the actress... but, now it's more of Vaishali the individual, the real me speaking my mind out and for once being politically in-correct, that's correct.
Come on...Spill the beans...Which director would you want to work with and why?
I have always wished being directed by "BIG DAD"(I fondly called him that) Mr. Manmohan Desai. And today in his absence I see his creativity being an inspiration for all the directors -young and old. So I would want an amalgamation of all of them. Like Farah Khan, Dibakar Banerjee, Anurag Kashyap, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Karan Johar. - Read More">Do you think you are forgotten after your debut film? Do you think you are forgotten after your debut film?
My interview with you says that I’m very much here and not forgotten. I will always be Vaishali Desai and I have made a decision to remain here.
What makes you a go-getter? And is it tough for a girl like you who come from a film background?
The competitive world around me makes me a go-getter, coz I know at the end of the day there is always someone to replace me...I don't want to be in the queue, I want to lead the queue. It’s tough for anyone whether filmy or non-filmy, everything today is so short-lived that you just make the most of it when you are there and exit when the time is right. - If I could recall the number of times I’ve had tea or coffee with any celebrity at their apartment, it’d not sound good to Vaishali Desai. If I could recall the number of times I've had tea or coffee with any celebrity at their apartment, it'd not sound good to Vaishali Desai. The list is endless. Not that I am inviting myself to her house for a cuppa, oh no! Not that I feel I'm invading an intensely personal space. But I'd like to confess, I'd love to have tea with her one day at her beautiful apartment in Andheri. But the hot ginger chai is just an excuse to meet her and talk about her future in the world of Bollywood. Questions like - How difficult it gets to come from the family who've been in films? How difficult it is to get your second film after the first one fails? How difficult is it to sustain yourself in the competitive world of Indian films? And how difficult is it to be Vaishali Desai? This young talent is almost lost in the jungles of the star studded fraternity but she isn't the one to take that seriously. She is all set to fight her own battle in Bollywood. I remember a very good moment while interviewing her backstage during a concert to promote her first film where she told me, "A scene doesn't have to be perfect. It has to be real." Such words make you think that Vaishali has always known the truth. It's time she experiences it once again. UK's Harrow Observer columnist and Bollywood Hungama's London correspondent asks the delightful Desai all the above questions and the most important one - "Can we have tea together at your place?" to which she answered, "Of course yes." I'll remember this moment too.
- What movies are you most looking forward to see in the theatres? It’s Inception, Inception everywhere. Oh God! I get nightmares with the constant reviews I’m getting from my fellow colleagues. I have to watch it! And being a movie buff all the forth coming Bollywood releases of this year.

Do you think a good script is enough for you to grab the film?
Yes, a good script backed with my ability to portray the character with conviction is more than enough to grab a film as an individual. But what’s more important in today’s day and age is the fact that who backs it, which production house is willing to go with it with its creative backing, etc. Filmmaking has become a commercial world today and if you have to survive, you need to be commercially accepted.
You've got a face, a peculiar one, more like Emily Blunt.
Is that a compliment? But thank you. I take it as one. I am also awaiting her next release called The Adjustment Bureau.
