Well, after a carelessly draped Sari, unkempt hair and few minor bloopers here and there, it has to be said that Miss Padukone turned out not so bad. Yea! That's the verdict. Taking a plunge from domestic award functions to International arena is a big step, and with time Perfection will be thy second name Deepika. Best of luck!
All said and done what is a wonder though is the way Miss Padukone draped that piece of garment. Be honest Deepika, you changed in the car now didn't you? Why else will the Sari look like it was wrapped around at the nick of time? The pallu is unequal, the drape is lousy. And a black nail paint? We are sure; in some universe it must have made a lot of sense to Miss Padukone. Talking about accessories, what is that watch saying? "Look at me, nobody bothered about giving me a notice." An event where every little detail is planned weeks in advance by the celebrities, we look at that watch and nail colour and wonder...really wonder why?
Aishwarya wore a sea blue tulle gown by Elie Saab which really went with her skin tone but what always wins hands down is a Sari. Not only is it the safest option, it is traditional and one of the most sophisticated piece of garment. Deepika's Sari was a tad less glamorous for this event that demanded the best. It was well suited for an award function held in the homeland but surely not for Cannes! Her hair, as is obvious, is completely ill managed and we wonder if she forgot to do anything about them. We demand an explanation from the hairstylist and why is the neck bare? The earrings were no big shakes to avoid a neckpiece. Though we love the sequinned strappy blouse, it's very chic.
Here we see a close up of Deepika and clearly the makeup is far from perfect. The experts say that 'make up' must enhance your feature rather than drown them in layers. Deepika can be a good example of learning just that as she looks unusually coloured or brown, whatever suits your sensibility. The colour of the lips matches, we don't know what. Even the accessories are just not up to it. Those earrings are far from catchy, or maybe they are, but in an unflattering way. The Bindi is definitely from Mumbai's Colaba causeway kiosks.
Whether you like it or not Cannes is the place to be seen at. It's the new hot spot to be if you're a celeb. Till date it was Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who would sash down that red carpet, waving to the media 'oh so coyly' while the Indian paparazzi would slash down everything from her hair to her clothes to even her being there. Next in line was Mallika Sherawat, who after being popularly showcased in the Jackie Chan movie, had made it her business to gain attention of each and every reporter on the spot at Cannes, and of course...the way she did it was with an outfit that bared more than it concealed. But look who made it to the Cannes this year? It is the leggy lass Deepika Padukone wearing a gorgeous Rohit Bal Sari. But thing's did go wrong now didn't they...
