His recent role in Kapoor & Sons only fostered his growth as a Bollywood celebrity. Breaking stereotypes attached to Pakistani actors and shedding inhibitions, Fawad Khan won more hearts by showing the guts to embrace a homosexual character despite the macho image he has - probably the reason why he has been described as the 'New Age Khan' in the magazine.
Among his upcoming Pakistani projects, Fawad Khan will be seen in the role of Pakistani singer in the film titled Albela Rahi. Based on the life of versatile Pakistani singer Alamgir who is said to have transformed the Urdu Pop music scene, the film has Fawad playing the protagonist and is directed by Sultan Ghani.
Besides Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, we are eagerly waiting to see the projects that Fawad Khan will be signing. Rumours also have it that the actor may play the leading role opposite Sonam Kapoor in Battle of Bittora.
Fawad Khan is also a renowned singer and he also co-founded the alternative rock band 'Entity Paradigm'. Though he hasn't been active in the music scene ever since the band was dissolved, after a lot of insistence from the audience, Fawad Khan hummed a few lines from the song 'Bolna' (from Kapoor & Sons) at a recent seminar he attended in Seattle, U.S.
In fact, we hear that the role which was written for him in the forthcoming Dharma film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil was extended owing to his growing popularity. It is being said that Karan Johar, who is also directing the film, decided to increase the screen space for Fawad Khan's character which was initially only a cameo.
Though he debuted with Shashanka Ghosh's Khoobsurat opposite Sonam Kapoor, Fawad Khan gained popularity initially as a TV star with his Pakistani serials like 'Zindagi Gulzar Hai' and 'Humsafar' creating waves in India.
