Despite the fact that IIFA is right around the corner, some Bollywood stars decided to stay back and cast their vote. Being considered as icons and public figures, many of them also urged the people of the country to go out and vote for the Lok Sabha elections. Most of the Bollywood celebs voted in Mumbai and some of them even took to Twitter to post their selfies after the session.
Amitabh Bachchan voted with his family and the megastar took to Twitter to post the pictures of his wife, son and daughter-in-law post the voting session. He wrote, "The family that votes together, builds a nation together !!"
While most of the industry folks turned up at the polling station, a few skipped their right to vote, the apparent reason behind their absence being the IIFA (International Indian Film Awards) that is set to take place over the weekend in the US.
The list of Bollywood celebs who skipped voting for the Lok Sabha elections include prominent names like Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar, Sonakshi Sinha, Shahid Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Kangna Ranaut, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, Bipasha Basu, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Madhuri Dixit.
Also, actress turned producer and IPL owner Shilpa Shetty Kundra made sure to give her vote. She later tweeted, "Hey Tweeto's Every vote counts. Make yours count too be a responsible Indian."
Vidya Balan has been a resident of Mumbai since childhood and the actress was seen casting her vote at Chembur with her family.
