For Anushka Sharma too, 2011 was a mixed bag of sorts. Her first release was Patiala House where she shared screen space with Akshay Kumar. Despite the role not demanding much of her, Anushka did deliver a spirited performance as Akshay's love interest cum pillar of strength. Towards the end of the year, Anushka re-united with her Band Baaja Baaraat(BBB) team for YRF's Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl. Despite sharing screen space once again with Ranveer Singh, the duo couldn't recreate the magic which they did so effortlessly in BBB. Little wonder then that it was newcomer Parineeti Chopra who stole the show from Anushka in this otherwise ordinary film. -

The Style Diva of Bollywood had a rather forgettable year at the Box Office. Thank You did manage an opening but it failed to take off in a big way. Sonam's other big release was the much anticipated Mausam opposite Shahid Kapoor which was touted to be the Love Story of the year. However the film bored audiences to death who couldn't wait for this Love Saga to end. Even though Sonam looked gorgeous in the film, she couldn't do much when the script itself was so lousy. It's high time this style icon starts choosing her scripts carefully.
Besides the above mentioned names, Bipasha Basu had an average year with just one release Dum Maaro Dum; Rani Mukerji made a strong comeback with No One Killed Jessica, while Jacqueline Fernandez too got her first big hit with Murder 2. Kalki meanwhile had 4 releases out of which only Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara struck gold at the B.O. while the others like Shaitan and That Girl In Yellow Boots received much critical acclaim and My Friend Pinto was a total dud. -

It was quite a busy year for Kangna Ranaut who had as many as 5 releases in 2011. First up was Tanu Weds Manu where Kangna played the bindaas small town girl with much aplomb. The film went on to become a surprise hit of the year much to Kangna's delight. Post that Kangna delivered a dud in the form of Game which was panned by critics and audience alike. Kangna was later seen in 2 slapstick comedies- Double Dhamaal and Rascals. While both were panned by the critics, Double Dhamaal managed to rake in the moolah while Rascals sank without a trace. Kangna ended the year with Miley Na Miley Hum a film which she would best like to forget. -

In spite of having 2 big releases in the form of Aarakshan and Desi Boyz, Deepika Padukone will best remember 2011 for her scintillating item number in Dum Maaro Dum. Deepika danced away like there's no tomorrow in this modern day remix version which boasted of some really shocking lyrics. Coming to her films, Deepika didn't really have one of the best years. Her first big release Aarakshan ended up being a boring and preachy film on reservation which didn't find a flavour with the audience. Desi Boyz did above average business but it was mainly due to the Boyz- Akki and John- whereas the girls Deepika and Chitrangda had very little to do. With some interesting films lined up for release in 2012, here's hoping that this babe once again returns with a bang. -

Priyanka Chopra had a mixed year of sorts. Much was expected from 7 Khoon Maaf when the first promo came out. However, when the film released, it was all too vague and bizarre for not just the aam-junta but even the critics. Even though PC gave it all for her performance as Susanna Anna-Marie Johannes, the film sank without a trace. In the second half of the year, Priyanka was seen in a rather forgettable cameo in 'good-friend' Shah Rukh Khan's home production Ra.One. However, Piggy Chops did manage to end the year on a high note courtesy Farhan Akhtar's Don 2. Reprising her role as Roma once again, PC looked in great shape and did manage to stand her own despite it being an out and out SRK film. Here's hoping the actress has a better 2012.
