The lake with the blue tinch in its water makes the Mediterranean Sea which is famous for its colour go to shame. “From creating a larger than life Buddha to constructing lakes and specially designed boats, we had a blast,†says, Omung. The dominant bell on the top adds magnificence to the ingenuity of the set. The frame echoes the sincerity of the soul and style with which it has be been carved out.
“The complete outdoors was created indoors. A certain timeless quality permeates each
and every frame in each and every set - from the clock tower to the pre-dominantly
created RK logo, from the silent bridge to the still waters of the lake,†says
Omung. The beauty of set lies in the reflection of RK logo on the lake with the figure
sitting in red having a bawling presence. “The brief by Sanjay to us was to go all out
creatively and we were only too glad to do so! â€says Omung.
The beautiful blue and green tinch deepens as snow falls over the bridge with
the beautifully carved boat below, hooked to the bank. And the Bar across the road with the beautiful green door speaks volumes of the creativity which is breathtaking. Lets see what the creator has to say, “We had to create a town where it snowed and rained and looked different as the season changed without for a second shifting away from the blue green colour scheme!†says Omung.
“We painted the walls and floors with peacock and lotuses transporting us into a world
that is very Indian,†says Omung. Damped walls, crystal chandelier, pink and
purple lotuses and a mirror mosaic staircase pictures the memories of old Mughalian
culture. The tomb shaped window a pane bestows a simple yet an aesthetic look to the
set. “We specially created blue-green carpets and a huge carpet making contraptionâ€
says Omung. The blue-green carpet inside the room with curtain raisers made out of
net reflects the character of Sakina (Sonam Kapoor), a silent, gloomy an unfathomable
young woman.

Saawariya’s lavish and larger than life sets are the talk of the town. Sanjay Leela Bhansali well-known for making his films on grand scale with marvelous sets has yet again brought a refreshing treat for the eyes of the movie goers. Bhansali’s imagination
has been beautifully carved out by set designers Omung and Vanita. Let’s have a glance
over Bhansali’s bolt from the blue creation.
“Saawariya is sheer poetry in motion,†Omung, the set designer exclaims. Exotic yet
Indian, Saawariya lives to tell the tale of two lovers. Set in a palette of blues and greens
with the reflection of the shades on the paved floor makes it a dream world to live in.
Lonesome man fading away in the moonlight on the deserted street paints the salient
imagination of Omung Kumar. â€Designing sets for Saawariya was like creating visual
poetry on film. Every frame had to have a soul, a style and feel of surrealism,†says
Omung.
