Kartik Aaryan talked about his much-publicised fallout with filmmaker Karan Johar after Dostana 2.

Kartik Aaryan had a successful 2022 with the success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. As Kartik gears up for Shehzada, the actor reached the sets of Rajat Sharma’s show Aap Ki Adalat where Kartik Aaryan talked about his much-publicised fallout with filmmaker Karan Johar after Dostana 2.

During an hour-long conversation, when asked about his fallout with Karan Johar after being ousted from Dostana 2, Kartik said, “This happens sometimes. I haven't spoken about this before.” Without revealing the reason, the actor added, "I believe in what my mother has taught me and these are my values too... when there's an altercation between two people, the younger one should never speak about it. I follow that and hence I never speak about it.”

Kartik was further prodded about whether he left the project after being denied more remuneration. Reacting to this allegation, Kartik stated, “This is like Chinese whispers, a make-believe story. I have never left a film because of money. I am very greedy, but in terms of script and not money.”

Dostana 2 had already gone on floors with Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor. It was supposed to mark the debut of TV actor Lakshya Lalwani. Back in 2021, Dharma Productions released a statement saying, “Due to professional circumstances, on which we have decided to maintain a dignified silence-we will be recasting Dostana 2, directed by Collin D'Cunha. Please wait for the official announcement soon.” But, for now, the project has been put on back burner.

On the professional front, Kartik Aaryan will kick off 2023 with Shehzada. The ensemble star cast of the film also includes Kriti Sanon, Paresh Rawal, and Manisha Koirala, among others. It is a remake of Allu Arjun-starrer Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, which was released in 2020. The actor also reunites with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 co-star Kiara Advani in Satyaprem Ki Katha. He has Aashiqui 3, and Kabir Khan’s next.
