Akshaye Khanna was truly the newsmaker in the month of December. He got a roaring response for his incredible performance in Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar. As Rehman Dakait, he rocked the show and his dance went viral. The Bahraini song, in fact, became an anthem of sorts. Towards the end of the month, Akshaye got into controversy after reports came in that he had walked out of Drishyam 3. Bollywood Hungama exclusively spoke to producer Kumar Mangat Pathak, who blasted Akshaye for leaving the project after signing the agreement and taking an advance. As expected, the news went viral in no time. In between, it was reported by a section of the media that all is not well between Akshaye Khanna and his brother, Rahul Khanna. It was speculated that, despite being so active on social media, Rahul hasn't posted anything about Akshaye's performance in Dhurandhar.
However, in an interview to Mid-Day, which was published on December 21, Rahul Khanna did open up about Dhurandhar and Akshaye’s viral look. He confessed that he had not seen the film and further said that he was confident that Akshaye must be looking fantastic while essaying the character.
Rahul Khanna said, “I haven’t seen the movie yet, I’m waiting for him (Akshaye Khanna) to show it to me. But anything he wears looks great, I’m sure he looks fantastic (smiles).”
Over the years, Akshaye Khanna has largely kept his bond with brother Rahul away from the spotlight. In 2019, in an interview with The Times of India, he was asked if the demise of his parents had changed his relationship with Rahul in any way. Akshaye replied, “My relationship with my brother was independent of my parents. In that sense, it hasn’t changed. But the immediate family for an individual is parents and siblings, and once that starts getting smaller, you hold to what is left even more.”
