Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, producers Bhushan Kumar and Nidhi Dutta and singer Sonu Nigam attended the launch of the song ‘Ghar Kab Aaoge’ from Border 2 at Longewala-Tanot in Rajasthan. Bollywood Hungama attended the memorable event, which turned out to be a truly one-of-its-kind experience. Significantly, the song was launched at the historic site of the Battle of Longewala, the very battle on which the first part, Border (1997), was based. It added a powerful layer of emotion and nostalgia to the occasion. Sunny and Varun gave powerful speeches and then Nidhi Dutta surprised with her heartfelt anecdote.

Nidhi Dutta revealed, “My chacha, Squadron Leader, Deepak Dutta, was a part of the Air Force contingent that fought in Battle Of Longewala and destroyed Pakistani tanks.”
The jawans clapped at this point. She then said, “When he returned from the battle, he told my father (J P Dutta) about it. My father then wrote the story of Border in a rough book in his college days. Hence, our family has deep connection with the soil of this place.”
She added, “I don't think I should talk about my memory of this song. This song was composed when Javed saab (Javed Akhtar), Anu ji (Anu Malik) and my father sat together. When the war took place in 1971, my grandmother used to sit next to the radio. She would listen to the news to find out if Deepak chacha's name is the list of martyrs. Whenever his name would not be mentioned, she would tell my father, 'Mera beta ghar aayega'!”

The armymen clapped once again over this emotional confession. She then said, “My father remembered this episode and he told Javed saab about it. That's how this song got made.”
An event to remember
The event began on lovely note as a local Jaisalmer group performed a folk song and also sang 'Sandese Aate Hai'. After the song launch, a group of soldiers performed the iconic Mathuradas scene of Border. This was followed by a dance on ‘Sandese Aate Hai’. In the end, they asked Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan and Ahan Shetty to join as well. They did and danced with them. The soldiers then took selfies with Sunny. Varun sweetly volunteered to take the picture for them with Sunny Deol.
Then musically inclined soldiers next came on stage and they sang 'Sandese Aate Hai'. Sonu Nigam came on stage in the end and he performed on the song as well, leaving all of us mesmerized.

Lastly, what made the event memorable was that several high-ranking officers were felicitated like M L Garg (IG, BSF), Mahesh Negi (DIG, BSF, Sector South Jaisalmer),
J S Bingi (DIG, BSF, Sector North Jaisalmer), Neeraj Sharma (Commendant 20th Battalion, BSF), Rakesh Pawar (Commendant 38th Battalion, BSF), M P Negi (Commendant 72nd Battalion, BSF) and V S Ghamoria (Officiating Commendant, 26th Battalion, BSF).
Border 2 releases in cinemas on January 23.
