After last week's somewhat solo release of WAZIR the second week of January sees the release of two starkly different films viz. AIRLIFT and KYA KOOL HAIN HUM 3 (KKHH3). While both films cater to different segments of audience AIRLIFT featuring Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur that is based on a real life incident is expected to fare better. But the question of the hour is, will the sex comedy or rather India's first ever 'porn-com' be able to hold its own against a big film?
Reports coming in suggest that AIRLIFT as expected has taken off to a good start with occupancy rates being pegged at 65% during morning shows. On the other hand KKHH3 that features an ensemble cast featuring Tusshar Kapoor, Aftab Shivdasini and Mandana Karimi has started on a sluggish note recording approximately 35% occupancy rate during morning shows.
On the whole with good reviews and positive word of mouth, AIRLIFT is expected to dominate the weekend while KKHH3 that has received mixed reviews will have to rely on good word of mouth. If that wasn't all the high patriotic wave sweeping the nation with Republic Day around the corner is certainly expected to give the collections of AIRLIFT a boost.
