Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan's romantic comedy, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke has taken a very good opening at the box office in India. According to early estimates, the movie has collected in the range of Rs. 5.25 to 5.75 crores on its opening day, which is almost triple the pre-release expectations in the film industry. The collections were aided by a buy one get one free offer on a ticketing platform, but even after taking this into account, the start is better than expected.
The three chains - PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis - have scored in the range of Rs. 3.15 crores on the opening day, which is more than what was expected of the film on an All India basis. The buy one get one free offer was an incentive for the audiences to buy tickets, and this has resulted in a large sample size to spread word of mouth. The film has done good business outside of National Chains too, and this is a good signal for the film.
The music of the film also worked, especially Phir Aur Kya Chahiye, which is topping all music charts including Hungama Music. Zara Hatke Zara Bachke will be looking at an opening weekend of at-least Rs. 15 crores, and then it's all about showing a generic hold on the weekdays to emerge a successful venture.
The signs are bright at the moment but its a wait-and-watch game to see if the film can consolidate the good start with gains on Saturday and Sunday. All said and done, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke has emerged as the biggest surprise of the year as far as box office opening is concerned.
