Last week on October 2, we saw the release of the much talked about and keenly anticipated Hrithik Roshan – Tiger Shroff starrer War. Released across 4000 screens the film opened on a thunderous note raking in Rs. 53.35 cr on Day 1. Following this, War that enjoyed a five day extended weekend saw its business grow by leaps and bounds. In fact, the film managed to rake in a staggering Rs. 166.25 cr over its opening weekend.
In this box office report we take a look at some of the records War has managed to set with its opening weekend business:
1. Highest Grossing Opening Weekend for Hrithik Roshan: War that has collected Rs. 166.25 cr has managed to surpass the collections of Hrithik Roshan's previous release Bang Bang that had collected Rs. 94.13 cr to become the actor's Highest Opening Weekend Grosser till date.
2. Highest Grossing Opening Weekend for Tiger Shroff: For Tiger Shroff too, War has claimed the top slot as the actor's highest opening weekend grosser surpassing the actor's previous release Baaghi 2 that had collected Rs. 73.1 cr.
3. Highest Grossing Opening Weekend for Siddharth Anand: Like Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff, War has emerged as director Siddharth Anand's highest opening weekend grosser out beating the collections of his previous directorial Bang Bang that had collected Rs. 94.13 cr.
4. Highest Grossing Opening Weekend for a Hindi film in 2019: Yet another record that War has managed to create is that of being the highest opening weekend grosser of 2019. In fact, the business of War has beaten the collections of the Salman Khan starrer Bharat that had collected Rs. 150.10 cr to claim this title.
5. Highest Grossing Opening Weekend for a Gandhi Jayanti release: Released on national holiday, Gandhi Jayanti, the Hrithik Roshan - Tiger Shroff starrer took off on a high note. This coupled with the fact that the film was one of the most keenly awaited releases, and an extended weekend War has emerged as the highest opening weekend grosser for a Gandhi Jayanti release.
6. Highest Grossing Opening Weekend for a film released in Navratri: War that released in the middle of Navratri saw its box office collections being slightly dented. However, despite this minor hurdle the film has managed to register the highest grossing opening weekend for a film released during Navratri.
7. Highest First Sunday Grosser of 2019: Surpassing the first Sunday collections of Saaho that had raked in Rs. 29.48 cr, War has now become the highest first Sunday grosser of 2019.
