The Sameer Vidwans directed Kartik Aaryan – Kiara Advani starrer Satyaprem Ki Katha hit screens last week. After much hype and promotions, the film opened on a good note and continued to see an increase in footfalls and business as the weekend progress. In fact, Satyaprem Ki Katha, which enjoyed a four day extended weekend, has managed to fare rather well, collecting Rs. 38.50 cr.
In this box office report, we look at the opening weekend collections of Satyaprem Ki Katha while comparing the same to previous releases of 2023. Not surprisingly, Satyaprem Ki Katha has managed to emerge as the sixth highest opening weekend grosser. While the business of the film surpasses previous releases like The Kerala Story which collected Rs. 35.49 cr, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke which collected Rs. 22.59 cr, Shehzada which collected Rs. 20.20 cr, and Selfiee which had collected Rs. 10.30 cr, it does not manage to out beat the business of certain other releases like Pathaan which collected Rs. 208.75 cr, Adipurush which collected Rs. 106 cr, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar which collected Rs. 70.64 cr, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan which collected Rs. 68.17 cr, and Bholaa which had collected Rs. 40.40 cr.
Currently, Satyaprem Ki Katha remains the audiences’ first choice in theatres, while the business of the film is expected to see a slight dip in collections on its first Monday running, trade predictions remain highly optimistic. In fact, early predictions state that Satyaprem Ki Katha could inch closer to the Rs. 70 cr mark by the end of its first week running.
