The Akshay Kumar starrer Samrat Prithviraj that was directed by Chandraprakash Dwivei was released last week on Friday. After garnering mixed responses from the audience and critics alike, the film opened on a modest note with Rs. 10.70 cr the business of the film, which also features Manushi Chhillar, Sanjay Dutt, and Sonu Sood saw good growth over its opening weekend. Not surprisingly, Samrat Prithviraj, which released across 1200 screens in the overseas markets, has been faring week in these territories as well. As expected, Samrat Prithviraj has opened well in the overseas market of U.S.A with USD 2,27,348 [Rs. 1.77 cr.] coming in over its opening weekend. Following this market are the overseas territories of Australia and Canada, which saw A$ 1,27,017 [Rs. 70.96 lacs] and USD 78,010 [Rs. 60.56 lacs] coming in. With UK & Ireland and New Zealand closing with collections of £ 50,342 [Rs. 48.83 lacs] and NZ$ 52,480 [Rs. 26.5 lacs] respectively.
Surprisingly, despite the wide screen count Samrat Prithviraj has been facing an uphill task at the box office. Going by the current trend while the business of the film will see further growth it is not expected to affect the film’s overall box office performance much.
