Akshay Kumar's Raksha Bandhan has collected in the range of Rs. 6 to 6.40 crores on Friday, Day 2 which is much below even the conservative expectation of the Hindi film industry. The film registered a 25% drop from Day 1. While the drop for Laal Singh Chaddha was approx. 33%, Raksha Bandhan managed to arrest the drop at 25% keeping the hopes open for Day 3 and 4. The family theme of the movie may ensure steady collections on Saturday and Sunday.
The start on Day 2 was average across the board, including the mass centers, though the occupancy did see a spike post the afternoon shows. In some of the mass centers like Gujarat, Saurashtra, CI and Rajasthan it was better than Laal Singh Chaddha, but at all other places across India, the film lagged behind the Aamir Khan starrer.
The best hope for the movie is to finish the weekend at around Rs. 30 crores and build a steady stream of collections from thereon. Tuesday would prove to be a decisive day for the movie at the box office.
