The Jagan Shakti directed film Mission Mangal featuring Akshay Kumar in the lead role released last week. The film which hit screens on Thursday, Independence Day opened on a high note and continued to do stellar business over its opening weekend. In fact, Mission Mangal managed to rake in Rs. 97.56 cr over its opening weekend alone.
In this box office report, we take a look at the collections of Mission Mangal on its first Sunday while comparing the same to previous releases of 2019. Collecting Rs. 27.54 cr on its first Sunday, Akshay Kumar’s Mission Mangal manages to surpass the business of the multi starrer Total Dhamaal that had collected Rs. 25.50 cr to become the third highest first Sunday grosser of 2019. Though the business of Mission Mangal does not out beat the collections of previous releases like Kabir Singh that collected Rs. 27.91 cr and Bharat that collected Rs. 27.90 cr, it does surpass other releases like Kesari that collected Rs. 21.51 cr, Super 30 that collected Rs. 20.74 cr, Manikarnika – The Queen Of Jhansi that collected Rs. 15.50 cr, Uri – The Surgical Strike that collected Rs. 15.10 cr, De De Pyaar De that collected Rs. 14.74 cr, and Luka Chuppi that had collected Rs. 14.04 cr.
Now all that remains to be seen is whether Mission Mangal that has received positive reviews from the critics and good feedback from the audience eventually emerges as one of the highest grossers of the year.
