Liger (Hindi) recorded a freefall in collections on its fourth day as the collections came down crashing around the Rs. 1 crore range (Rs. 90 lakhs to Rs. 1.30 crores) as per estimates. The film has recorded a massive drop across the board, and this has got to do with the negative talk among the audience across the board. The Vijay Deverakonda starrer is officially a flop in the Hindi belts too.
The writing was on the wall in the South Indian markets, but the film was showing some sort of hold in collections in the Hindi-speaking markets. But even that little hope has now vanished due to the drop in the collections on its fourth day. The total collection of Liger now stands around Rs. 15 crores and the film will end its run at the box office around the Rs. 20 crore mark.
In isolation, the collections are on par with some of the Hindi disasters featuring the top names. The collections of Liger will be in the same range as Jersey and Jayeshbhai Jordaar, which starred Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh - in the Hindi belts.
The film is a big disaster in the Southern markets, with distributors losing over Rs. 50 crores, whereas it’s a mere flop in the Hindi belts. As far as overseas is concerned, the performance is disastrous there as well. The overall losses on Liger for the distributors on a global level will be North of Rs. 60 crores, thereby making it one of the bigger disasters of the year.
