It was a decent start for the dubbed Hindi version of Kantara as Rs. 1.27 crore came in. Till about a week back no one would have given the film much of a chance since it wasn’t even heard about like much promoted Vikrant Rona or even reasonably promoted 777 Charlie. In fact it didn’t see any trailer launch or an introduction event for the all India audience. Still, over the week leading to the release of the film, there was much better visibility.
In that aspect, the film has seen reasonable numbers coming its way and now it’s all about how does the growth happen from here over the weekend. Reviews for the film are expectedly good since it is anyways a blockbuster in Kannada and the content has been much appreciated. It’s just that the film is not into the masala zone just like it was the case with Pushpa, which again had a rural setting. Also, it boasted of chartbuster music which really picked up within couple of weeks of the film’s release. In that aspect, Kantara is more about a regional story been told, though the action drama genre helps.
A couple of weeks ago when a far bigger film PS-1 released in Hindi,it had brought in Rs. 1.85 crores on the opening day and would now close in the range of Rs. 23 crores. In comparison; it’s a decent enough start for Kantara (Hindi) and if it indeed manages to close in Rs. 15-20 crores range then it would be a good enough result for the film.
