Kabir Singh is now operating in a different zone altogether. Even on its second Friday, the film continued its BLOCKBUSTER run as a massive Rs. 12.21 crores came in. Compare this with Thursday collections of Rs. 13.61 crores (hardly any fall) and first day numbers of Rs. 20.21 crores (less than 50% fall) and you get a very clear picture that how stable has the film been since release.
The Sandeep Reddy Vanga directed film has collected Rs. 146.63 crores so far and would enter the Rs. 150 Crore Club this afternoon. As a matter of fact by the time the evening shows are through, the film would have gone past the lifetime numbers of Kesari [Rs. 154.41 crores] and Total Dhamaal [Rs. 154.23 crores] and that too in a matter of just 9 days!
Shahid Kapoor has struck hard with Kabir Singh and the romantic drama is setting records with every passing day. No holiday release, no event arrival, A certificate, a heroine [Kiara Advani] for whom this was her first major Bollywood release (she had a brief part in M.S. Dhoni - The Untold Story), a director who was making his debut in Bollywood, reviews from a section of media which were downright scathing - and still the results are a testimony to the fact that audiences have a mind of their own.
The film has done extraordinary well despite the release of Article 15 and while the Ayushmann Khurranna starrer too has gathered numbers on expected lines, Kabir Singh would see further major jump in collections today.
