Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan has been in the news ever since it was announced. The fusion of Bollywood’s iconic superstar with the massy south filmmaker Atlee Kumar was enough to generate excitement among the fans of both. Later on, the film’s prevue added onto the anticipation. But the release of the film’s trailer yesterday has ensured that nothing can stop Jawan at the box office, as far as the film’s opening is concerned.
Bollywood Hungama reported earlier in the day that the film had sold as many as 391,000 tickets in the biggest multiplex chains in India for the first day till 10.15 am today. Following this, the sale of the tickets has been rapid in the following hours. Breaking that number up, Jawan sold 318,500 tickets in PVR Inox and 72,500 tickets in Cinepolis. As for other locations like Miraj, MovieMax and CityPride each location saw sales of 34,616, at Miraj, 10,500 at MovieMax and a further 3,200 at CityPride till Tuesday night. One needs to note that these are the numbers only for the film’s opening day on September 7. In addition, these numbers are only from multiplex chains of India and they doesn’t contain numbers from various other multiplex chains and the single screen theatres all over India.
