Jawaani Jaaneman has enjoyed a better weekend than Saif Ali Khan’s last decent runner, Baazaar. That film had managed to accumulate Rs. 11.93 crores in its opening weekend and then hung on reasonably well to emerge as a fair success. Now Jawaani Jaaneman has done a bit better to collect Rs. 12.83 crores after Sunday stood at Rs. 5.04 crores.
Of course, given the merits of the film, one expected a bit more from the film. Appreciation for the Nitin Kakkar directed affair had suggested that the growth would be further bigger and hence result in a weekend of Rs. 15 - Rs. 17 crores. Though that hasn’t quite happened, this gap could well get covered if the weekdays are steady.
Currently there is a three way battle between Jawaani Jaaneman, Tanhaji - The Unsung Warrior and Street Dancer 3D, each one of which is collecting in the similar range. However, by the time the week is through, it would be interesting to see which film has a better week - Jawaani Jaaneman or Tanhaji - The Unsung Warrior. That would also pave the way for these two films in their second and fifth week respectively.
