Here’s a look at the records broken by Kabir Singh in its first week

The Sandeep Vanga directed film Kabir Singh released a week back, and since then the Arjun Reddy remake has been raking in the moolah at the box office. Released across 3123 screens in the domestic market the film surpassed expectation on its opening day drawing in Rs. 20.21 cr. Now after a week’s run at the box office we take a look at some of the records the Shahid Kapoor starrer Kabir Singh has managed to set so far.

Here’s a look at the records broken by Kabir Singh in its first week

 

- Becomes Shahid Kapoor’s highest opening day grosser

Garnering positive reviews from the critics and a good spate of advance booking ensured Kabir Singh surpasses the collections of Shahid Kapoor’s previous release Padmaavat that hit screens in 2018. While Padmaavat had collected Rs. 19 cr on Day 1, Kabir Singh surpassed expectations to rake in a massive Rs. 20.21 cr on Day 1.

- Becomes the second highest opening day grosser for an ‘Adults Only’ certified film

Collecting Rs. 20.21 cr Kabir Singh has managed to become the second highest opening day grosser for an A certified film. Unfortunately, the film narrowly misses surpassing the business of Satyameva Jayate that had collected Rs. 20.52 cr.

- 4th Highest opening day grosser of 2019

Up until a week before the release of Kabir Singh trade predictions stated that the Shahid Kapoor starrer would open in the Rs. 12 cr range. However, with positive reviews and good advance booking the business of the film far surpassed these expectations raking in Rs. 20.21 cr. If that wasn’t all, with this Kabir Singh also managed to become the 4th highest opening day grosser of 2019.

- Biggest opening Weekend for an A rated film, leaves all other films far behind

Collecting Rs. 70.83 cr on its opening weekend, Kabir Singh that was granted an A certificate from the CBFC has managed to surpass all other A rates films to become the biggest opening Weekend for an A rated film, leaves all other films far behind. Coming in second is Grand Masti that had collected Rs. 40.50 cr.

- Shahid Kapoor's Highest solo starrer opening weekend grosser

Though Padmaavat that released in 2018 remains as Shahid Kapoor’s highest opening weekend grosser, when compared to films in which Shahid has been the solo lead, Kabir Singh tops the charts as the actor’s highest solo starrer.

- Highest 1st Sunday grosser of 2019

On its third day of release Kabir Singh that was well received by the audience managed to surpass the Salman Khan starrer at the box office. Collecting Rs. 27.91 cr, Kabir Singh managed to become the highest first Sunday grosser with Bharat taking second place with Rs. 27.90 cr.

- 4th Highest opening weekend grosser of 2019

Collecting Rs. 70.83 cr on its opening weekend the business of Kabir Singh not only outdid trade expectations but also managed to become the fourth highest opening weekend grosser of the year. Coming in just behind releases like Bharat, Kesari and Gully Boy the film has managed to fare event better than Kalank.

- Highest 1st Monday collections for 2019

Usually releases witness a dip in collections on Monday, in the case of Kabir Singh, the business of the film did see a slight dip from its previous day’s collections. However, despite this the Shahid Kapoor starrer drew in Rs. 17.54 cr beating Uri – The Surgical Strike that had collected Rs. 10.51 cr to become the highest 1st Monday collections for 2019.

- Highest 1st Tuesday collections of 2019

Continuing its winning streak the business of Kabir Singh stayed well about the Rs. 15 cr mark on its first Tuesday, Day 5 with Rs. 16.53 cr coming in. The film yet again topped the charts as the highest first Tuesday grosser of 2019 with the second highest being far behind at Rs. 9.57 cr.

- Highest 1st Wednesday collections of 2019

The usual norm of films collections at the box office is a massive opening day followed by an even bigger opening weekend before seeing a drop on weekdays. However, Kabir Singh managed to stay above the Rs. 15 cr mark even on Day 6. Collecting Rs. 15.91 cr the film became the highest 1st Wednesday collections of 2019.

- Highest 1st Thursday collections of 2019

Dropping below Rs. 15 cr on Day 7, Kabir Singh drew in Rs. 13.61 cr on Day 7. Still far ahead of other 2019 release the Shahid Kapoor starrer managed to become the highest 1st Thursday collections of 2019 as well.

- Becomes the All-time highest ‘Adults Only’ certified grosser

Collecting Rs. 120.81 cr by Day 6 Kabir Singh managed to surpass the lifetime collections of previous ‘Adults Only’ certified films to become the the All-time highest ‘Adults Only’ certified grosser.

- Shahid Kapoor's highest solo starrer opening week grosser

Similar to the opening weekend collections, Kabir Singh becomes Shahid Kapoor’s highest first week grosser, when compared to film where the actor has been the solo lead.

- Kabir Singh becomes the second highest opening week grosser of 2019

Another feat the Shahid Kapoor starrer has managed to achieve is to become the second highest opening week grosser of 2019. Collecting Rs. 134.42 cr the film manages to rank above the Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari that collected Rs. 105.86 cr.

- Shahid Kapoor’s first solo release to touch the Rs. 100 cr mark

Over the years Shahid Kapoor has featured in numerous memorable films, however, it is Kabir Singh that propelled the actor higher than ever. Breezing past the Rs. 100 cr mark within its first week Kabir Singh has managed to become Shahid’s first solo release to achieve this.

- Shahid Kapoors second movie to enter the Rs. 100 cr club

With Kabir Singh crossing the Rs. 100 cr mark the Sandeep Vanga directorial becomes Shahid Kapoor’s second film to achieve this box office benchmark. Preceding Kabir Singh is the 2018 release Padmaavat that had collected Rs. 166.5 cr by the end of its first week.

- 7th highest opening weekend of 2019 in the international markets

The Shahid Kapoor starrer Kabir Singh released across 493 screens in the overseas markets last week, now after receiving a roaring response the makers of the film are looking at increasing the screen count in certain markets. As for the collections, Kabir Singh raked in USD 1.7 million [Rs. 11.77 cr] over its opening weekend in the overseas markets making it the seventh highest opening weekend grosser of 2019 in the international markets.
