Day 4 Estimates: Street Dancer and Panga FAIL the Monday test; collections drop significantly

Street Dancer 3D has seen a steep fall in the collections on its fourth day as the film has raked in collections in the range of Rs. 4.40 to 5.40 crore on Monday, taking the total collections around the 46 crore range. The film has dropped by 55 to 60% from Friday, which is a poor sign, particularly because the start itself wasn’t up-to the mark. It was essential for this Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor, Prabhudeva starrer to show a strong hold in collections to record a healthy box-office trend and proceed towards the breakeven point; however it has failed the essential Monday test. The first week collections will end under the 60 crore mark and this drop also suggests that the audience word of mouth is not favourable.

Day 4 Estimates: Street Dancer and Panga FAIL the Monday test; collections drop significantly

The Remo D’souza directorial, which was always weak in the mass belts, has shown a massive drop in the interiors and the general sentiment is lack of substance in the screenplay for family audience. Even the multiplexes have more or less crashed and the movie is headed towards a theatrical disappointment. It was essential to hold around the 8 crore mark on Monday to record a steady trend and carve a journey towards the 100 crore club, however the film will now end in the same range as Varun’s last release, Kalank, which was also a theatrical flop.

Second release of the week, Panga too hasn’t held at the box-office as early estimates suggest around 2 crore day for the film. The Kangana Ranaut film showed positive trend over the weekend, however the collections have come down like a plank of cards and this would be the second consecutive disappointment for the producers, Fox Star Studios after their recently released, Chhapaak which was fronted by Deepika Padukone. The film should have been in the same range as Friday to reach a respectable total, however that hasn’t happened. The four day total stands around the 16 crore mark, and the film is headed towards a poor week one of 20 crore.

Tanhaji has continued with its magnanimous run at the box-office as the film has collected approximately Rs. 4.25 - 4.5 crore on Monday, which is a minimal drop of 10% from the third Friday. The film is on its course to race past the 250 crore mark and emerge a massive blockbuster by the end of its run.
