The latest Salman Khan starrer Tubelight that was directed by Kabir Khan also featuring Sohail Khan and Chinese actress Zhu Zhu released on Friday last week. After opening to a decent response on its first day, the film which has received mixed reviews from critics seems to be faltering at the box office.
In this box office analysis we take a look at the opening weekend collections of Tubelight while comparing the same to previous releases of 2017. Surprisingly, unlike the usual Salman Khan releases around the festive season of Eid, Tubelight has reported relatively low collection figures. In fact the film which has raked in Rs. 64.77 cr ranks as the fourth highest opening weekend grosser of 2017, failing to beat the previous releases like Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion that had collected Rs. 128 cr, the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Raees that had collected Rs. 93.24 cr and the Hrithik Roshan starrer Kaabil that had collected Rs. 67.46 cr.
On the other hand, the collections of Tubelight do manage to surpass other releases like the Akshay Kumar starrer Jolly LLB 2 that collected Rs. 50.46 cr, the Varun Dhawan starrer Badrinath Ki Dulhania that collected Rs. 43.05 cr and the Arjun Kapoor starrer Half Girlfriend that collected Rs. 32.04 cr.
However, with Monday (today) being a holiday for most on account of Eid, the business of Tubelight is expected to see a jump in collections as the day progresses.
