While it's mostly Bollywood films which rule the roost when it comes to Indian Box Office, once in a while we do manage to see an exception. In this case, it is the recently released Hollywood film The Amazing Spiderman 2, that has fast become the third highest Opening Weekend Grosser of 2014.
In fact the film that has collected Rs. 41.70 crores over the weekend has managed to surpass Bollywood releases like the Arjun- Alia starrer 2 States (Rs. 38.06 crores) and Sunny Leone starrer Ragini MMS 2 (Rs. 24.50 crores). However, the film narrowly missed the second spot as the Highest Opening Weekend Grosser that is currently held by Gunday (Rs. 43.93 crores).
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 posted the highest Opening in history for Hollywood releases in India in its four day opening weekend starting May 1st with a final tally of 1523 screens - the widest release ever for a Hollywood film. The film also registered the highest ever Opening Day gross for any Hollywood film when it opened. It released in four languages - English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu and in 3D, 2D, IMAX 3D and in Dolby Atmos where available.
