Despite the fact that there is a sudden wave across the country created by Veere Di Wedding, two holdover releases Parmanu – The Story of Pokhran and Raazi continued to hold fort in their second and fourth weekend respectively. They hung on well on Friday and then came on their own for the rest of the weekend.
Let’s talk about the John Abraham starrer first. Buoyed by the good word of mouth that the film is enjoying, there was momentum gained as a result of which the second weekend billing read Rs. 10.16 crore. Compared to the opening weekend collections of Rs. 20.78 crore, this is a good hold, especially if one considers the competition around. The overall total of the Abhishek Sharma directed film is Rs. 45.57 crore and the film is heading for a lifetime of around Rs. 60 crore. As a matter of fact it is now already John Abraham’s biggest solo starrer since it has gone past the Madras Cafe lifetime of Rs. 42.67 crore. Hit.
On the other hand Alia Bhatt is enjoying her stand where she is a in a league of her own. The film is continuing to deal in crore and Rs. 5.05 crore more came in the fourth weekend. The film jumped well over the weekend and then again came on its own. With a total of Rs. 114.89 crore under its belt, the Blockbuster success will play on for 10 more days before Race 3 arrives this Eid. It won’t be collecting in crores anymore but then the job has already been done.
With the kind of Box Office results that Alia Bhatt has delivered here even with an offbeat realistic film, one waits to see how much bigger does her future films turn out which are in a far more commercial and entertaining set up.
