Sanjay Leela Bhansali will definitely be breathing a sigh of relief since his latest venture Padmaavat finally hitting screens. But adding a silver lining to the dark clouds of delay is the fact that the Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor starrer has been seeing immense growth in business both in the domestic and international markets.
In fact, in the overseas market of Australia where Padmaavat has been on a literal record setting spree, the business of the film we hear has in fact accomplished yet another feat. Going by reports, Padmaavat that had already crossed the lifetime business of previous releases like Dilwale, Bajirao Mastani, Sultan, Tiger Zinda Hai and Bajrangi Bhaijaan over its opening weekend has now gone on to become the fourth Bollywood film till date to cross the AUD 2 million mark.
While Padmaavat had managed to draw in a staggering AUD 1728642 [Rs. 8.88 cr] over its opening weekend in Australia, the current total business of the film is awaited. However, advance reports suggest that Padmaavat has recorded collections in excess of AUD 2 million, thus joining previous releases like Dangal that had collected AUD 2,623,780 [Rs. 13.50 cr], Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion that collected AUD 2,407,933 [Rs. 12.39 cr], and PK that collected AUD 2,110,841 [Rs. 10.86 cr].
With Padmaavat still running in almost all theatres and cinema chains in Australia all that remains to be seen is whether the collections of the film surpass previous releases to propel Padmaavat to the position of Highest Grossing Bollywood film in Australia.
