The Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed film Padmaavat starring Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone released yesterday. The film which has been in the news since December last year for all the wrong reasons has opened on a good note, especially considering the hurdles that it has faced.
In this box office report we take a look at the opening day collections of Padmaavat while comparing the same to Shahid Kapoor’s previous releases. Collecting Rs. 19 cr, Padmaavat is now Shahid Kapoor’s highest opening day grosser surpassing the collections of the actor’s previous releases like Shaandaar that collected Rs. 13.1 cr, R...Rajkumar that collected Rs. 10.2 cr, Udta Punjab that collected Rs. 10.05 cr, Haider that collected Rs. 6.14 cr, Phata Poster Nikhla Hero that collected Rs. 6 cr, Teri Meri Kahaani that collected Rs. 5.25 cr, and Rangoon that collected Rs. 5.05 cr.
While the said opening day collections do not include the Rs. 5 cr revenue generate from the paid previews all that remains to be seen now is whether Padmaavat does become one of Shahid Kapoor’s highest grossing films ever.
