It was yet another big day for Oppenheimer and Barbie as between the two films, Rs. 10 crores more came in. This translates into the fact that Hollywood is continuing to shine despite Bollywood bringing on its very own big release in the form of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. While the Karan Johar film has been doing quite well too, Hollywood is not far behind with these two films from last week doing so very well till date.
Let’s talk about Oppenheimer first. The film saw a huge jump in collections as Rs. 7 crores* more came in. Friday numbers were around Rs. 4 crores, so this is really superb. Especially at the premium screens like IMAX, where all tickets are sold out for the weekend, the film has been doing exceedingly well. Even otherwise, in the major cities the Christopher Nolan film is a super-hit and to think of it, at certain B centres too the period drama is doing very well which shows how the audiences have evolved over the years. With Rs. 83 crores* already in its kitty, the film will enter Rs. 100 Crore Club this week itself.
On the other hand, Barbie is now set to go past the Rs. 40 crores mark rather comfortably and then add a bit more to that as well, hence emerging as a semi-hit affair. On Saturday, the film grew really well with almost double the numbers of Friday coming in. Rs. 3 crores* on the second Saturday is indeed a big deal for a film like this, which has been playing at select screens, and that has pushed the overall total to Rs. 31 crores. With further growth on the cards too, the film will either cross or at least come quite close to Rs. 35 crores today. Post that Rs. 40 crores will come in a jiffy as well and the lifetime will now cross Rs. 45 crores mark. Superb!
