Though Mubarakan had a rather shaky start on Friday with collections staying low, good rise in footfalls on Saturday and Sunday meant that the film managed to go past the Rs. 20 crore mark. Not that the overall numbers which have been garnered justify the merits that the film boasts of. However the very fact that there is a positive momentum been built is a good enough indication that the film has been liked by the audiences.
This reflects in Rs. 22.91 crore that has come in for the Anil Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor starrer. Of course Arjun Kapoor has seen far better days as his last release Half Girlfriend had collected Rs. 32.04 crore over the weekend. In fact in Welcome Back, their last outing together, Anil Kapoor and director Anees Bazmee had enjoyed a hefty weekend of Rs. 51 crore. Hence collections of Mubarakan are hardly the kind that lead to instant celebrations for anyone since there is a lot of caution involved.
That said, the good news is that positive trending has been evidenced and that lends hopes for some sort of stability in the weekdays ahead. The need of the hour for the film is to maintain at least Rs. 4 crore on a daily basis right till Thursday so that exhibitors have good enough confidence to retain a reasonable screen count in the second week.
