Yet another weekend, yet another hit in the making. This time the film in question is The Lion King, which has caught audience imagination all over again. The film had made an impression 25 years back as well when released in an animated version and now with latest technology coming into play, it has spun its magic all over again.
On Saturday, the film collected Rs. 19.15 crores more and that has pushed the total to Rs. 30.21 crores. This is excellent as the trending is really positive and now one waits for a superb Sunday ahead. The film is following an even better trajectory when compared to The Jungle Book which had opened at Rs. 10.09 crores and then enjoyed a weekend of Rs. 40.47 crores. While The Lion King will now comfortably go past the Rs. 50 crores milestone before the start of weekdays, it would be interesting to see how much higher does it go from there as it could mean a long run then.
New Hindi releases didn't really have as much luck as the numbers stayed on the lower side for both Jhootha Kahin Ka as well as Family of Thakurganj. Both the films are decent entertainers for their target audience segment but then there is too much of competition around them. One waits to see if there is a jump on Sunday as so far neither of the two films has managed to hit the Rs. 1 crore mark on a single day.
