The weekend collections of Dear Zindagi are out and the film has now moved into a higher league of collections, considering the fact that it is now finding a place amongst the best. With Rs. 32.5 crore coming in the opening weekend, the film is now over performing. The Gauri Shinde directed affair is now amongst the Top Weekend Openers of 2016. Here is how:
Sultan – Rs. 105.53 crore
M.S. Dhoni – The Untold Story – Rs. 66 crore
Housefull 3 – Rs. 53.32 crore
Fan – Rs. 52.35 crore
Rustom – Rs. 50.42 crore
Airlift – Rs. 44.3 crore
Baaghi – Rs. 38.58 crore
Dishoom – Rs. 37.32 crore
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil – Rs. 35.6 crore
Udta Punjab – Rs. 33.8 crore
Dear Zindagi – Rs. 32.5 crore
Mohenjo Daro – Rs. 30.54 crore
If one looks at this list, Dear Zindagi is the most unconventional of them all, along with Udta Punjab. Incidentally, both films have Alia Bhatt in the lead role. While even a Rs. 25 crore weekend would have been good enough for the film to celebrate, the fact that even Rs. 30 crore milestone has been crossed means Dear Zindagi would now end up in the upwards of Rs. 60 crore as the lifetime sum.
For Karan Johar, the film is yet another success within a month after Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Though Baar Baar Dekho was a disappointment earlier this year, Karan had tasted success with Kapoor & Sons. With a 75% success rate in 2016, he would indeed be in a happy state while he gets set to kick-start his 2017 campaign. Alia Bhatt has been impressive with three films in a row [Kapoor & Sons, Udta Punjab, Dear Zindagi] while Shah Rukh Khan has now moved on from Fan to Raees with Dear Zindagi giving his fans some good enough moments to smile.
