The recently released film Yaariyan that marks the debut of multiple actors as well as director Divya Khosla Kumar has turned out to be the first sleeper hit of 2014. Now that the film is running in its second week, Bollywood Hungama decided to take a look at the day wise breakup of the film's collections.
Taking an economic point of view, Yaariyan seems to have fared surprisingly well collecting Rs. 19.2 crores over the first weekend, close to the last musical hit of T-Series Aashiqui 2 that had collected Rs. 20.5 crores in its first weekend. Further the film's Cost of Production was Rs. 9 crores whereas the Cost of Print & Advertising was Rs. 10 crores, totaling to Rs. 19 crores. Interestingly, a substantial chunk of investment of Rs. 9 crores was recovered from Satellite (STAR Network), music (Rs. 4 - 5 crores) and ancillary rights (Rs. 1 crore).
