It is a matter of a couple of days before Badrinath Ki Dulhania enters the Rs. 100 Crore Club. The film is continuing to collect over 2 crore on a daily basis even in the second week, what with Rs. 2.45 crore more coming on Tuesday. The film has now clocked Rs. 96.39 crore already and the current trending would take it past the Rs. 100 crore mark by the end of the second week.
A Superhit, this Karan Johar, Shashank Khaitan, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt starrer has now paved the way for third in the series which is definitely in the making now. This is the first ever franchise where the lead pair is playing different characters and then eventually ending up getting married. For a romcom musical drama, this one is indeed unique, and the only one other than Tanu Weds Manu series (which has the story of the same pair continuing) to be seeing such huge traction amongst audience.
As for the newer releases (Machine, Aa Gaya Hero) there isn't much of traction as they are just counting their days in theaters in the very first week. The collections are extremely low. Footfalls for Trapped aren't great either but the only solace is the cost of production as well as the fact that it has arrived on just 300 screens, and hence occupancy is better than the other newer releases.
