Shivaay is holding itself well in the second week. The film started slow but ever since the first weekend, it has pretty much stayed on track and registering consistent footfalls. As a matter of fact the numbers are coming in not just from the single screens but also multiplexes, due to which the daily collections are quite steady. This reflected in Monday numbers too that stand at Rs. 3 crore*, and as a result of which the overall total is now Rs. 90.5 crore*.
The film is now aiming for an entry into the Rs. 100 Crore Club and that should by Friday. That was the bare minimum benchmark for the film to cross in order to at least scrape through and that is now happening. For Ajay Devgn and his team, this would be nothing short of a sigh of relief since the film was in news for over two years and in the making for a year. Ajay had admittedly called Shivaay as his passion project and thankfully for him, it has managed to find audience for itself after a slow beginning.
Shivaay is benefitting primarily from the evening and night shows where family audiences are stepping in good numbers. That is the situation for most part of the country where the film is performing well. While this week should be steady for the film, it would be interesting to see how many screens does it manage in the third week, considering the fact that Rock On 2 would be aiming at making inroads into the multiplex territory at the least.
